Cirque Éloize Cirque Éloize at George Mason Cirque Éloize is "Highly recommended for bored teenagers, jaded sophisticates, aged aunties and others," hailed The New York Times about this unpretentious little sister to Cirque du Soleil. With drama, gymnastics, ballet and rock music, Cirque Éloize performs in the witty, exuberant, unadorned style of a small, independent European circus. These nine performers accompanied by five musicians comprise a talented, physically impressive ensemble, finely honed and choreographed to elicit delight, humor, suspense and exhilaration in their audiences. Warm humor and genuine teamwork temper their feats of tumbling, strength, control, and equilibrium, combined with dazzling aerial work. All ages will enjoy the opportunity to witness these amazing performers who communicate in "the universal language of fun" (The New York Times). Red Hat Society Day April 25 This coincided with the new release from Founder and Exalted Queen Mother Sue Ellen Cooper. "The Red Hat Society: Fun and Friendship After Fifty" (Warner Books) If you're interested, you may order this book here. The Red Hat Society: Fun and Friendship After Fifty by Sue Ellen Cooper Finally, the official book of the The Red Hat Society™, which is sweeping the nation. Inspired by the Jenny Joseph poem that begins: "when I am an old woman I shall wear purple/with a red hat that doesn't suit me," Sue Ellen Cooper bought herself a red hat. Soon it became her signature gift for friends turning 50. In 2000, Cooper and her friends formed the Red hat Society, whose only rule is no rules-it's simply a play group encouraging woman over 50 to have fun, support each other, and find kindrid spirits. The book contains the history of the Red Hat Society, a guide to life by Ruby RedHat and funny, heart-warming and sassy stories shared by Red Hatters from all over North America, with narratives offered by Sue Ellen. Jewelry Party Saturday, April 24 Jewelry Party - Red-hatted women artisans gathered for cake and coffee, tête-à-tête, repartee and, if so inclined, to create a beautiful brooch all under the direction of Pin Princess Jane Cunniffe. Idlers, hecklers, the artistically challenged and those who just want cake were welcome and encouraged to grace us with your presence. Sunday, March 21, 2004 Celebrating the official chartering of our chapter with the Red Hat Society. This was a Wine, Cheese, Hats and Frocks Party! Each person modeled Red Hats and Purple Frocks or Pants Suits. We are now ready to go out into society! Each woman assigned herself a magnificent title, the grander the better! We also started making a red and purple quilt with all our names on it, and titles.
